NEUROLOGICAL PROJECTS

In select areas of focus, we will seek to go deep and try not to reinvent the wheel. Newer technologies will be deployed to study the following areas, to begin with:

• Parkinson’s disease
• Bipolar disorders
• Strokes and other cerebrovascular disorders

We will also do cross-problem studies to understand underlying causes and why some problems such as Bipolar disorders surface at 20 or 22 years of age while others like CVAs/ Parkinson’s / Alzheimer’s typically surface much later.

Leadership for our first project is with our strategic partner, Centre for Brain Research at Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (IISc). They are building a consortium of partners and will define the roles of each, assess funding requirements etc. It is also agreed that this and other Neurological research projects will require support for 10 years.
